Xander is named for a character on the television show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". If you are familiar with the show, he definitely resembles his name. :-) He was born on March 11, 2002 and came to live with us when he was 4 months old. Kim had been wanting an orange kitty (something about having Halloween kitties. LOL) so we started our hunt at PetsMart, where there are always kitties up for adoption. We met a volunteer there from The Haven, our local no kill organization. We told her what we were looking for and she invited us to her home where she was fostering a litter of kittens. Kim took one look at Xander and fell in love. He had several medical problems involving his bowels when we got him but, thankfully, those cleared up in a matter of months. He is a very friendly kitty. Although not a lap sitter, he always wants to be where the people are and sits next to, or behind them. He adores Hercules and the two of them play for hours on end. As a matter of fact, we claim that he is "transspecies" since he doesnt seem to have a clue that he is a cat and not a dog. LOL The move into our new home seems to have freaked Xander out permenantly. He never used to run away from things, but now, he is very skittish. We hope he will revert back to his old ways in time.
This is Evo Phenomenon (Evo for short). Evo is a Maine Coon mix who was born on August 22, 2008 and came to live with us the day after his 7 week birthday. He is a silver tabby Maine Coon mix and is a bundle of curiousity. He is a very cuddly baby and just loves being held and snuggled. He and Xander have become the best of friends and play non-stop. They also sleep together, groom one another and generally dislike being out of one another's sight. Evo, despite being a "grown up" now still has a wooby (this stuffed green bear thingie) that he sucks on several times a day. His nickname is "The Wooby Man" for that reason. LOL
Pete (tuxedo) and his sister Myka (below) are littermates that Lisa found abandoned by the side of the road. According to the vet, they were born in April of 2009. There were 5 kittens in all, one of whom had already been killed by a car by the time Lisa passed by. Lisa found a home for the other two kittens with a coworker, but we just couldn't part with these two. Pete is very attached to Myka and loves to play with the big kitties. He has also decided that MopDog is his pet and rubs all over him on a regular basis. He spends his nights sleeping on the couch with Mop and Hercules and enjoys hanging out on top of George's cage.
Myka is a dilute tortie, something Lisa has always wanted. She looks like a miniature Maine Coon, down to her long ear tufts and luxurious whiskers. She doesn't have the size of a true Maine Coon, but she definitely has the personality. Myka's nickname is Princess Fuzzlebutt and she is 100% lady. She sweeps that long tail around her as she sits and surveys her domain. She adores Kim and loves nothing better then to cuddle up next to her on the bed. And beware the person who dares stop petting her highness before she is ready...she will poke the offending hand with her sharp claws to demand you continue!
